Carvoeiro has grown from a small fishing village into one of the Algarve’s best-known seaside resorts. It is particularly lively in July and August, yet it has kept much of its distinctive appeal: whitewashed houses sit beneath the cliffs, while traditional fishing boats can still be seen on the sand. Praia do Carvoeiro is the village’s main and most central beach. It lies beside the main square, with cafés, restaurants, terraces and shops all close by. This makes it a highly convenient option for families, couples and anyone who wants an easy beach day without needing to carry supplies far.

During the official bathing season, usually from 1 June to 30 September, lifeguards supervise the beach. Sunbeds and parasols are available to rent for a fee. In peak summer, both the beach and nearby parking can fill up quickly, so arriving early is advisable.
